About the Artist
Diane Lucas, of Wild Garden Graphics, is a botanical/nature artist from Nova Scotia, Canada. She is a local leader in David Suzuki’s Butterflyway project and has created an illustration series entitled ‘Butterflies and Their Host Plants’, as an educational part of the project.
This series depicts 18 common or familiar butterflies in North America with their caterpillars and host plants. Through her artwork, she wants to promote the preservation of native plants and an interest in native gardening.

Butterflyway
The Butterflyway Project is a volunteer-led movement that is
growing habitat for bees and butterflies in neighbourhoods
throughout Canada
I am a Butterflyway Ranger, and with my team, we are creating native habitats in our yards as well as in two public spaces. I also do garden tours and presentations to local garden clubs, community associations, and book clubs, to educate people on the need to create native habitats in our yards as well as public spaces. I use my nature/botanical artwork as an educational tool.
